Braehead Curlathon Result

Remember the Curlathon, back in September last year (see report and photos here)? Linda Macdonald, the fundraising manager for the Highland Hospice, has now been in touch with the final overall figure raised:

£30,794.05

This has been split three ways - to the Highland Hospice, St Vincent's Hospice, and Braehead Curling, this last planning to use their share towards purchase of new stones for the beginning of next season.

Well done to Judith McFarlane (above) who headed up the organising committee, and all who took part, some of whom you may, or may not, recognise below.

New websites to bookmark

Many reading this will know that the Scottish Curler magazine has been published by Dunfermline Press since 1985. Reorganisation within the group has meant a change of name. The parent of the magazine is now the Clyde and Forth Press Group. One consequence of this is that the magazine now has its own website, particularly to facilitate the process of subscribing, and to make it easy to contact the publishers and editor online.

The address is www.scottishcurler.com. If you want to subscribe to the magazine you can download a pdf file of the subscription form which can be completed and returned in the regular mail with your cheque or credit card details. Soon, it will be possible to subscribe and pay online.

Please consider becoming a subscriber. Scottish curling needs an independent voice and the magazine can only continue if curlers support it. The first issue of the new season is currently being printed and will be available next week. Find the subscription form and costs here. If you are already a subscriber, thank you. How about giving a Scottish Curler subscription as a gift?

Another new website for you to bookmark is that set up by the curlers at Braehead. Find this here. Gary Macfarlane is the webmaster and he has posted lots of photos from the recent Curlathon on the site.

And we thought it was time that the Curling Today blog had a fresh look. Did you notice the new template? Do you like it?
